The client

Our client, a highly successful Environmental consultancy has released an exciting position rarely made available to the market. They are seeking a Heritage Consultant to join their growing team in Sydney. The National Heritage Team is comprised of highly-regarded archaeologists, anthropologists, heritage architects, interpretive specialists, and historians, working across all regions of Australia.

The role

The position offers an excellent opportunity to be part of an industry-leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, and develop technical and professional skills in a supportive team environment.. The role will involve working as part of a team in the preparation of cultural heritage and archaeological assessments, consulting with and working alongside Traditional Owners, undertaking field survey, research, report writing and project management. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to advance their career with a global environmental leader. 


In this role, you would:

  • Undertake cultural heritage and archaeological survey and assessment, primarily in NSW and on an as-needed basis in other States and Territories
  • Provide project support to the team, and under direction, provide technical advice and services to clients
  • Develop technical proficiencies in a collaborative environment.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Tertiary degree in archaeology, anthropology, Aboriginal studies, or a similar discipline 
  • 2-4 years’ fieldwork experience
  • Knowledge of NSW heritage legislation and statutory approvals process
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to undertake field work and have the ability to work in remote locations
  • A current valid Australian driver’s license
  • Knowledge of WHS obligations and responsibilities relevant to the role
