The company

Are you keen to play a key role in the progression of a multi-billion-dollar project through to financial close? Exciting opportunity to join an ambitious industry leading project team!

Our client is embarking on one of the most exciting Renewable Energy projects globally, to provide low-cost renewable energy for local and export markets. Currently they are undertaking the planning, Engineering design and commercial assessment to supply high capacity, competitive, stably priced and dispatchable renewable electricity to loads in the northern Australia and South-East Asian regions.

The Role

Our client is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to report to the Financial Controller and be responsible for providing expertise and support in fixed asset accounting, month-end coordination and completion, payroll reporting, various financial variance review and analysis, financial reporting preparation and statutory compliance.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of consolidated monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, internal management reports and cashflow statements.
  • Managing the general ledger of multiple entities in all jurisdictions including overseeing the monthly balance sheet, banking and inter-company reconciliations.
  • Completion of monthly accruals and journals.
  • Preparation and lodgement of BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax & Workers Compensation (In all states).
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly payroll.
  • Cashflow forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assisting in building the finance team through recruitment and training
  • Mentoring and supervising the other members of the finance team.
  • Assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives and proactively identify new initiatives that could benefit the company.
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding and adhering to financial regulations and legislation.
  • Establishing and maintaining financial policies and procedures for the group.
  • Ensuring accounting standards and policies are adhered to.

Selection Criteria.

To be successful for this position, you should have:

  • Demonstrated track record of success generated from one of the “Big 4” audit firms
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting and finance.
  • International reporting for global entities (e.g. US GAAP, SOX, IFRS).
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer software skills e.g. Microsoft Office and Accounting Applications, advanced excel skills. Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sun Systems or such other similar system
