Anavo have been engaged by a well-established local business of a fully integrated international electricity utility to appoint a Senior Development Manager.

As a result of extensive and targeted greenfield development and M&A activities, they are well progressed with two Utility scale solar farms in NSW. They are seeking an experienced Senior Development Manager to drive these projects to financial close and into construction. The role will also involve participation in the origination and/or acquisition of new renewable energy development opportunities in Australia. The role is Sydney-based with some regional travel to site expected.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the connection application, Generator Performance Standard approval, power system modelling with TNSP, AEMO and internal/external consultants; oversee the execution of the transmission connection agreement
  • Assuming Project Management leadership for the development to FID of large solar and storage projects in NSW
  • building and managing relationships with landowners, neighbours and the local community
  • Achieving compliance with key permits for both the Project and associated transmission; managing key stakeholders including Council, local, State and/or Federal Government departments agencies
  • Working with other key team members to manage the technical aspects of the project including engineering optimisation, with support from local consultants and OEMs
  • Developing, maintaining, and reporting on a Project development schedule and budget that is accurate and deliverable
  • Identification, assessment and mitigation of risks, identification of risks likely to emerge during project execution and development of appropriate contingency provisions
  • Manage all aspects of HSE and compliance during the project development

You will be able to demonstrate your high levels of success as Senior Development Manager in the Energy sector and be a current or emerging leader in your organization. You will bring at least 5 years’ experience in development and execution of renewable energy projects, and ideally experience in managing the grid connection process

 

Qualifications & essential skills:

  • Project development experience on greenfield projects; Project contracting experience, development, implementation of contracting strategies, use of various contracting models and methods
  • Previous experience in undertaking connection approvals for inverter-based generation such as solar, experience in working with TNSP’s and AEMO
  • Having at least a working knowledge of the current NEM grid constraints and issues
  • Effective communicator with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Adaptability and capability to take on new responsibilities as part of a small team
