The Opportunity

An excellent chance to join a top solar solutions supplier, whose ambition is to become the number one supplier in the Australian market across all segments, from residential, commercial to utility-scale. Entirely office-based position in Sydney. 

As part of this Power Systems & Grid Connection Engineer role you will be supporting the project lifecycle and be instrumental in grid compliance, asset modelling and commissioning compliance study supports.

 

Role & Responsibilities

Working closely with HQ product, R&D and modelling team to gain a solid understanding on hardware, software, RMS and EMT models of the company's products, you will support the commercial team on bidding processes by preparing model packages, as well as supporting the clients on modelling enquiries and troubleshoot model issues.

 

  • Support commercial team on relevant document review, particularly in relation to Generator Performance Standards (GPS), R1, R2, etc.
  • Work closely with HQ team to close clients’ issue trackers in a timely manner and to ensure the best technical outcomes for the projects.
  • Participate in R2 model validation site testing and hold point test report preparation.
  • Follow up on applicable technical rules, specifically NER and prepare & review technical notes or technical reports.
  • Proactively stay up to date with all the latest technologies concerning the company's products and the underlying technologies.
  • Assist in market analyses, including customer’s requirements and feedback, market trend, etc.
  • Participate in reviewing & negotiating connection agreements, meetings of clients with regulators & market operators (AEMO) and network service providers, while providing support for clients where needed. 

Selection Criteria

An an experienced Power Systems and Grid Connection Engineer, the successful candidate will have demonstrated background in utility-scale Solar & BESS coupled with excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Chinese communications skills will be a bonus. 

 

  • Bachelor or master's degree in Power Electronics or Power System Engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years industry experience and good understanding of technical requirements (eg: NER schedule S5.2, S5.3).
  • Solid knowledge of power systems, power electronics, and control principles.
  • Proficient in PSCAD, PSS/E, Python, MATLAB and DIgSILENT/Power Factory.
  • Previously demonstrated experience in Power Systems Engineering and experience working and liaising with AEMO, NSPs.
