The company currently has multiple grid-connected solar assets in South Australia. Committed to the investment, development and operation of solar power stations and new energy in Australia, they are looking to further develop and build large-scale Solar & Battery Storage projects in QLD, NSW and New Zealand.

The Opportunity

A complex and exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our client’s Australian team and be involved in the Civil Design and Engineering work for their Solar Farms & BESS projects in both Australia & New Zealand, as well as assisting in managing the project’s preliminary design, reviewing third-party institute designs and drawings, as well as on-site civil construction management, while ensuring compliance with industry local standards and regulations. Reporting to the Project Manager in New Zealand or China.

  • Flexible arrangement – fully work from home + site visits.
  • Travel required domestically & internationally (limited to Australia, New Zealand and islands nearby) to various project sites, particularly in the early stage of project execution

The Responsibilities

Showcasing project engineering and strong interpersonal skills and capable of working in an international multicultural environment, communicating with third party design firms and coordinating the engineering design work to advance as planned, you will be responsible for:


  • Oversee the civil and structural engineering quality requirements/standards for design and construction of the Solar Farm and/or BESS project/s. Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice on all civil & structural engineering matters
  • Procurement & management of survey, geotechnical investigation and environmental assessments, as well as external civil, structural, mechanical services.
  • Supporting the procurement team with technical specs & datasheet, while ensuring all materials comply with the design specs.
  • Managing & coordinating the design on site (including document registers, design information requirements for sub-contractors, request for information, mark-ups & site instructions) and liaising with the third party design team as required.
  • Ensuring installations are completed in line with the approved design from the authority.
  • Familiar with applicable codes, standards and regulations in Australia and New Zealand.

The Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will have a positive and proactive approach to safety, excellent communication skills and professional work standards, with a high attention to detail, as well as:

  •  Minimum 2-3 years demonstrated work experience as a Civil Engineer in utility-scale Solar Farm and/or Battery Storage projects & EPC. 
  • Proven ability to provide technical inputs for the solar farm EPC design process & practical knowledge in investigation, design & construction of civil works;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil/ Structural Engineering or related field are essential;
  • Valid White Card/general construction induction card & Australian/ NZ Driver License
  • Willing to travel to various project sites to complete tasks;
  • MUST have valid working rights for AUS & NZ.
