Our client is a leader in the market for supplying and installing commercial and industrial solar and storage systems. As a result of aggressive business growth, they are now actively hiring for a Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) to join their passionate and successful team in North Sydney.
The SBDM will manage the RFP (Request for Pricing) process, engaging in diverse opportunities across both greenfield and brownfield projects, whilst expanding and maintaining client relationships.
Operating Context:
The construction industry and wider markets are seeing significant growth in projects incorporating solar and storage systems. The SBDM will be responsible for identifying and pricing solutions that meet specifications across a range of sectors. This includes overseeing greenfield projects, where new developments are a focus, and brownfield opportunities involving the upgrade or retrofitting of existing sites. Collaboration with the Head Sales Engineer and Design Engineer will be essential in managing project follow-ups, tracking awarded projects, and exploring additional business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Revenue and Sales Growth:
- Achieve individual and company revenue targets.
- Identify and track RFPs across greenfield and brownfield sites using CRM tools.
- Attend and network at relevant industry events and trade shows.
2. Client Relationship Management:
- Build and nurture relationships with key clients across diverse sectors, including developers, construction firms, and industrial stakeholders.
- Deliver compelling presentations to decision-makers, tailoring solutions to specific project needs.
- Prepare and present proposals with a focus on sustainable energy solutions, positioning the company as a market leader.
3. New Business Development:
- Proactively pursue business opportunities in both new developments (greenfield) and existing asset upgrades (brownfield).
- Leverage client and developer relationships to identify and secure retrofitting opportunities.
4. Sales Strategy and Reporting:
- Contribute to evolving sales strategies in collaboration with the Sales Director and Head Sales Engineer.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence, focusing on competitor products, pricing, and emerging trends.
- Ensure all proposals are current and aligned with company objectives.
5. Project and Performance Management:
- Provide regular sales reports and monitor customer satisfaction through project handovers.
- Perform additional duties as needed to meet business objectives.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Experience in the Australian commercial solar industry, ideally within a solar system installation or retail business.
- Proven ability to consistently meet and exceed sales targets.
- Expertise in commercial sales with a track record of developing both greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Strong understanding of industry competition and market dynamics. Personal Attributes:
