Our client

Established over 60 years ago, with extensive knowledge and experience having completed a large range of complex projects in industries such as, power generation, petrochemical, pulp and paper and materials handling our client has built a reputation as one of top NZ engineering companies.

The role

This main purpose of the position is to act as primary interface between headquarters in New Zealand and their prospective mining and infrastructure equipment customers in Australia.

Main responsibilities included overall customer relationship management, sales management and port operations.

Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare annual sales and marketing plans for the Australian market
  • First point of customer relationship management
  • Conduct regular/structured customer sales visits – maintain call plans. Provide feedback on sales calls to headquarters
  • Manage Australian prospects and pipeline lists within CRM or other structures defined by GM Sales and Marketing
  • Participate in monthly sales management meetings
  • Liaise with the Business Development and Design teams to develop best solutions to the customer problems
  • Present solution proposals to customers in conjunction with business development team and manage sales process to conclusion


  • Manage Australian based spares inventory
  • Coordinate delivery of equipment to customers
  • Manage equipment commissioning and customer training
  • Manage warranty and service (planned, preventative and reactive) calls and spares. Monitor customer equipment service intervals and proactively coordinate service calls
  • Manage Australian subcontractors in relation to installing equipment, commission, service and maintenance


  • Weekly/monthly written reporting to NZ headquarters
  • Secure market intelligence and communicate to headquarters via MS Teams and CRM
  • Report and record information within the CRM in a complete, accurate and timely fashion

Key skills

  • 8+ years in a technical sales role for capital equipment supplier
  • Experience in identifying customer problems and preparation and presentation of technical sales proposals/solutions
  • Significant experience using CRM systems, MS Teams and Office 365
  • Trade’s background preferable
  • Experience in the commissioning of capital equipment and customer training
  • Preferably existing Australian port operations networks
  • Mining networks and advantage
  • Ability to travel extensively around Australia and occasionally New Zealand
  • Unrestricted driver’s license
